ABOUT SXRATCH
How it started
Sxratch is the brainchild of a bunch of technology/music/software experts. We got connected years ago through a common interest: scratching!
We met face to face for the first time in 2019 at Sample Music Festival, which has become one of the most anticipated community events worldwide for scratching, finger drumming and controllerism.
our passion
From here onwards we combined our ideas, thoughts and passion into what would ultimately become Sxratch.
In 2023, we brought on John Carluccio as Creative Director. Carluccio is best known for his documentary project Battle Sounds: Hip-Hop DJ Documentary (1997), and the founder of TTM, Turntablist Transcription Methodology. Carluccio’s fresh ideas and experience are a welcomed addition to the team.
our business
Founded in 2021, our company manufactures products that unlock new ways of being creative in performance as well as production and educational settings.
For everyone
Sxratch is committed to enabling expression and more creativity across all these application areas, whilst at the same time ensuring very low barriers of entry for everyone.
Our idea
Traditional concepts of sound generation using keys, strings or sticks have been technologically extended over the last 40 years by two additional tools – fader & disc. We see great potential in the systematic transfer and modelling of scratch gestures by capturing the performance data / by accessing their underlying data to create new software applications or hardware.
disrupting the market
At the same time, we see increasing frustration in consumers of products from ‚large’ companies with the lack of innovation. It almost looks like larger companies really struggle with actually listening to their customers, or just don’t care. Maybe they are avoiding risks because the market is already so niche and their shareholders rather want to see a bump in revenue from ‚new model‘ sales.
Your Dream. Our Mission.
Instant creative Experience
No matter what skills or background you have, you should be able to use the concepts that originated out of scratching in other tools to be creative – instantly and without stereotyped thinking.
